Bicycle Gear
Bicycle gear is essential if you want to make the most of your time on your bike. That’s why it’s important to budget for it when you plan on purchasing a new bike. The bike shouldn’t take up more than 80% of your budget. This is because every bike is going to have gear that’s specific to that model, and it’ll be stuff that you want on hand.
\Perhaps the most obvious piece of bicycle gear is a set of spare tubes. Yes, many low to mid range bikes have interchangeable tube sizes. But when you start getting into high end bikes, sometimes the front and back don’t even have identical tube dimensions. Beyond that, many high end bikes feature wheel styles that won’t accommodate a normal tire.
In a lateral transition from tubes, every biker will want to have a tire included in their set of bicycle gear. One important thing to note on a new bike is the type of valve stem the tires have. This will dictate what style of bike pump you need to inflate that spare. You don’t want to be caught out on the road with a flat and a pump that doesn’t work.
